Situations
Every leaderboard here is built from the plays themselves, so it answers questions the season
totals cannot: third and long, inside the 10, backed up, or with garbage time taken out.
Plays are runs and dropbacks; sacks and scrambles count as passes. Success is the standard rule (half the yards needed on 1st down, 70% on 2nd, all on 3rd and 4th). Explosive is 10+ yards on a run, 20+ on a pass. Negative is a run for no gain or a loss, or a sack. "Ranked" uses current rankings: the latest College Football Playoff ranking once the committee has released one that season (the selection-day ranking for past seasons), otherwise the latest AP poll. The qualifying minimum follows the situation — about half of what a typical team or player got in it — and you can set your own. This page reads the play-by-play, so it is part of the subscription.
