Rates come first on purpose. A quarterback with two hundred drop-backs will beat one with a hundred and twenty on every total he is given, and that is a fact about playing time rather than about either player. Success is the standard rule: half the yards needed on 1st down, 70% on 2nd, all of them on 3rd and 4th. Explosive is 10+ yards on a run, 20+ on a pass.
